The Canadian Landscape Legacy 2026

A National Plein Air Art Competition Celebrating the Spirit of Canada

The Canadian Landscape Legacy

A New National Tradition in Canadian Art

The Canadian Landscape Legacy is an annual national art competition created to honour Canada’s extraordinary landscapes and the artists inspired by them.

From rugged coastlines and sweeping prairies to majestic mountains and northern skies, Canada’s land has long shaped our artistic identity. This event invites artists to capture that spirit—and help create a lasting cultural legacy for future generations.

Selected Artists

Meet the remarkable artists helping define the first chapter of this national event.

The Vision

Rooted in the tradition of plein air painting, the Canadian Landscape Legacy celebrates both traditional and contemporary artistic practices.

This is more than a competition—it is a platform to:

  • celebrate Canadian artistic excellence,
  • connect artists from coast to coast,
  • inspire future generations,
  • and build a lasting national tradition.

How It Works

1. Submit Your Artwork

Artists submit one original landscape painting online.

2. Finalist Selection

Selected finalists are invited to Edmonton.

3. Live Plein Air Competition

Finalists create a live landscape painting in the beautiful North Saskatchewan River Valley.

4. Gala & Awards

Winners are announced and celebrated at our closing gala.
